Things to Know Before Planning your First Long-Distance RV Trip

Are you thinking about taking your first long-distance recreational vehicle trip? It is a dream for many to take a travel trailer at some point in their lives and NC is a beautiful state to travel across via RV. Travel trailer touring has increased 15% over the past year and you can find a variety of models for sale in NC. Before you begin your long-distance trip, here are a few things to know to ensure a fun and memorable experience.

There is more than one kind of travel trailer.

There are many different styles and sizes of travel trailers for sale in NC. Depending on your needs and your trip, you might only require a pop-up or you might find that you will need a motorhome. Consider what features you would like, where you are going, and your budget to help determine which travel trailer will work best for you.

Add a backup camera to your travel trailer.

You may feel that the mirrors on your travel trailer provide plenty of viewing availability and you would be correct, but that does not mean you will be fully comfortable with maneuvering backwards in your RV. Backup cameras are excellent additions to any travel trailer, especially when backing in and out of campgrounds.

You can cook but keep things simple.

Depending on your travel trailer, you may have a full kitchen inside or you might want to consider the grills available on campgrounds. Cooking your own meals will be healthier and more affordable than eating out for each meal, plus you will not have to pull in and out of restaurant parking lots. If you do purchase groceries to cook your meals, keep them simple in order to save space within your travel trailer.

Create a plan and a route.

Plan your budget, your food, your route, and your campsites. You want to take tolls and route alternatives into consideration, so make good use of your GPS. When you are planning what campsites to stay at, consider all of their fees and read the fine print. Some campsites might have a rate per night, but it could include two people and have additional charges for each additional person staying on site.

The scenery across NC will be beautiful.

A major benefit to taking a travel trailer is the opportunity to experience the scenery that NC has to offer from mountains to beaches. You will have the opportunity to sit back and enjoy the experience of the travel at your leisure without rushing to get through security as you would if you had decided to fly.
